Partida Prieto's main source of inspiration is life itself:
"No matter what happens, the ups and downs, there's always a reason to create something to be inspired by and let your art tell a story that no one has ever heard before".
B. 1984
Leonardo Partida Prieto is a Mexican self-taught plastic artist. He holds a Bachelor in Advertising and Marketing and it was during his college days that he began his career as an artist. He has created over 200 pieces and he continues to evolve with his creations. He is not afraid of exploring new challenging forms of expression in working with new materials and tools. Each of his art works have their own particular process and becomes a part of a permanent learning stage that prepares him for the next one.
His early art works were made mainly in acrylic on paper, using brushes and colour pencils, but now he is experimenting with mixed-media techniques that include the use of wood, pigments and resins among other materials. His style is very original, working with different layers and many colour tints to create powerful visual effects.
For Partida Prieto art is not a job, it is a personal passion and a spiritual safe heaven. It is a place where he can freely express himself, his thoughts and ideas opening the door for many discussions:
"I consider myself an introvert, a very shy person but my art is different, it's bold and it shows a different side of me, which allows me to express myself and not to bottle down any type of feelings or emotions, with my art, everything is in the open and I like that".
Partida Prieto had his first exhibition in 2007. Since then, he has participated in more than 30 exhibitions in renowned museums, art galleries and fairs all over the World. One of the biggest accolades in his career came when he was selected by the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Paris, to be a part of the renowned Salon des Beaux-Arts at the Carrousel du Louvre in 2010.
He is now based in Abu Dhabi. Since moving to the UAE, he has discovered different cultural perspectives and personal experiences that he has been incorporating into his outstanding art works.
